# Industry Standards
Mechanical Spiral Wound Lining complies with the material and installation requirements specified in **ASTM F1697** and **ASTM F1741**.
According to these standards, spiral wound lining can be designed for both:
* **Partially deteriorated pipelines**, where the existing pipe continues to share structural loads.
* **Fully deteriorated pipelines**, where the new PVC liner is engineered to withstand all design loads independently of the host pipe.

Our Solution
Spiral Wound Lining Process
A continuous PVC profile strip is supplied from a reel positioned above ground and fed into the existing pipeline through manholes or other access points. No additional excavation is normally required.
A specialized winding machine constructs the liner directly inside the existing sewer, stormwater pipeline, or culvert by continuously winding and mechanically interlocking the PVC profile.
Depending on the pipeline diameter, the winding machine either pushes the liner forward or travels through the pipeline while continuously forming the new pipe.
During installation, the profile edges are mechanically locked together to create a continuous watertight liner.
Depending on project requirements, the liner may be installed as:
* A tight-fit liner requiring no grouting.
* A structural liner with the annular space filled using cementitious or structural grout.
